With sponsorship from the BNF Cinema Arts Project (CAP) this documentary will be screened at the Normal Theater . The emotional documentary reconstructs the story of an Aché indigenous girl whose body becomes the object of scientific interest in the early 20th century. The film accompanies the Aché community in its effort to recover the girl’s remains and lay her to rest at last in the land of her ancestors.
Screening will be followed by commentary by Dr. Katie Sampeck on the archaeology of conquest in Latin America and Dr. Logan Miller on legal issues of the repatriation of indigenous remains in the Midwest United States.
